Three years ago, MOPS Africa was 28 groups, reaching 400 moms. Today, there are 193 MOPS groups across 17 countries, with 4,500 moms directly involved in MOPS Africa.
This month, MOPS Africa saw a substantial rise in new groups as some areas have been recently able to open! We just welcomed 24 new groups in Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria!!
We are so excited for what God is doing through MOPS around the world!
I started participating in MOPS a year and a half ago. I consider that being part of it has changed my life. I not only kept participating in the MOPS activities but I also started to attend church. I was interested in being a better mom to my son and in the process God showed me this beautiful group. Here I started a real relationship with Jesus and allowed him to lead my motherhood journey. I met extraordinary women in whom I found support, prayer and guidance. MOPS is a balm for the mothers soul.
Today, I drove 45 minutes to drop off meals collected from my group for a mom in another MOPS group who is battling breast cancer. I met her family, and prayed for healing and for this food to bless their family. On my way home, while my own 2 year old napped in his car seat, I was praying and thinking and giving thanks for what being a MOPS coordinator has done in me. The woman I was 4 years ago, would not have driven that far for someone I didn’t know, would not have openly prayed with her and for her, would not have cried for her as I drove away. I’m so thankful for God pushing me into my role as coordinator last year so that I would have this opportunity to love on another mom, and encourage others to love on her too.
